Sr. Kay Jo Evelo

Sister Kay Jo was born in Terre Haute, Indiana. Her family - parents, four brothers and two sisters moved to Texas when she was only two years old. The family settled in Bellaire, Texas. She attended Holy Ghost School which was staffed by the Sisters of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate.   They encouraged her to join their Congregation.  Accepting their invitation, Sister Kay Jo moved to San Antonio where she entered the Formation Program and continued her education at Ursuline Academy and later at Our Lady of the Lake University. Upon graduation Sister Kay Jo became an elementary school teacher, as well as an athletic coach. She taught in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. Sister Kay Jo still teaches and does some athletic coaching at Saint Rita Catholic School in Fort Worth.

When she celebrated her sixtieth Jubilee,  Sister Kay Jo remarked: “Thank you God for the gift of my vocation to Religious Life!”
